Job Description

The Strategic Finance Analyst at Alarm.com supports business strategy development, financial analysis, project management, and stakeholder collaboration to drive growth and optimize business performance in a dynamic SaaS and IoT environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing financial strategies and unit economic models for product solutions and go-to-market approaches.
  • Design contract terms and negotiation strategies for customer relationships and monitor their business impact.
  • Lead internal initiatives from conception to launch, managing multiple project responsibilities.
  • Communicate proactively with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and information sharing throughout project lifecycles.
  • Evaluate addressable market opportunities to inform resource allocation and assess market growth and competitive positioning.
  • Build and analyze dynamic unit economic models to evaluate business scenarios and impacts.
  • Collaborate across teams to assess the effects of pricing, contract, and business model changes, providing strategic insights.
  • Conduct competitive analysis, pricing research, and in-market testing to understand market elasticity and inform recommendations.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years of relevant professional experience which includes strategic finance, investment banking, consulting, FP A, or a similar data-centric role.
  • An undergraduate degree, preferably with advanced coursework in Accounting, Finance, Strategy, Mathematics, and/or Economics.
  • Working knowledge of accounting and financial concepts.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including V lookup, X lookup, index match functions, pivot tables, sumifs, etc.
  • Excellent leadership skills and ability to thrive in matrixed organizations.
  • Strong analytical acumen and attention to detail.
  • Experience with subscription-based business models.
  • Ability to develop, and execute identified objectives with a detail-oriented approach.
  • Self-starter and proven team player in an achievement-oriented environment.
  • Effective communication skills, comfortable presenting complex information to audiences with varying levels of financial acumen, including executives.
  • Willingness to put personal ambition aside to achieve optimal outcomes through collective endeavors, contributing to value creation regardless of personal attribution and commendation.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment with varying day-to-day responsibilities.
  • Physical and mental ability to engage in project management, stakeholder management, and analytical tasks as described.
