Job Description
The Finance Operations Controller at Alarm.com will lead the accounting functions for the EnergyHub business, overseeing financial reporting, process improvements, and compliance to support the company's growth and strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and improve the monthly close process and quarterly financial reporting, including automation and streamlining.
- Ensure all financial data is accurately reflected in the general ledger in compliance with GAAP.
- Lead and develop the corporate accounting team and oversee billing and collections functions.
- Provide guidance on complex transactions to ensure proper accounting and reporting treatment.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, audit procedures, and regulations, and support audit processes.
- Partner with FP&A and other departments to analyze financial results and support forecasting.
- Collaborate with sales and revenue accounting teams to develop deal desk processes and address revenue recognition issues.
Requirements
- 15 years of total experience, preferably in technology-focused corporate and or public accounting, with experience at both early-stage businesses and public companies
- CPA qualification is required
- Experience with multiple ERP systems, including participation in an ERP implementation process
- Demonstrated ability to build for scale and complexity in financial processes
- Proven experience in developing and managing a sound internal control environment in a rapidly growing company with public reporting requirements
- Good technical accounting and financial reporting skills well-grounded in GAAP
- Strict attention to detail, accuracy, and reliability
- Ability to lead and manage a corporate accounting team of at least two members and oversee billing and collections functions
- Experience driving an efficient and accurate monthly close process and quarterly financial reporting cadence, including identifying opportunities to accelerate close calendars, improve automation, and streamline processes
- Experience ensuring all financial information is accurately reflected in the general ledger in compliance with GAAP
- Ability to consult with internal business partners across cross-functional areas within EnergyHub and Alarm.com HQ on complex transactions to ensure proper accounting and reporting treatment
- Experience adhering to internal policies, audit procedures, and regulations to ensure full compliance
- Experience leading interim and year-end support for external and internal auditors
- Ability to partner with FP&A and other functional area owners to provide insight into actual financial results to inform forecasts and routine plan of records
- Excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, particularly during stressful times
- Willingness to work in an environment that values collaboration and in-person teamwork, with the expectation of working from the office 4 days a week
Benefits & Perks
Compensation/salary range: $185,000 - $210,000 USD
