Job Description
The WHSE Specialist is responsible for embedding health, safety, and environmental standards across all project phases of large-scale battery storage solutions, ensuring compliance, risk mitigation, and continuous safety improvements through audits, stakeholder collaboration, and process enhancements.
Key Responsibilities
- Embed health, safety, and environmental standards across all project phases.
- Oversee contractor and supplier WHSE compliance and lead assurance activities.
- Monitor environmental risks and ensure environmental approval commitments are met.
- Integrate Safe Systems of Work into project delivery and promote Human Organizational Performance.
- Manage WHSE reporting, streamline processes, and drive continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure WHSE compliance and risk mitigation.
- Conduct and report on WHSE audits to verify performance and ensure due diligence.
- Manage stakeholder relationships and oversee principal contractor WHSE obligations.
Requirements
- Demonstrated strength in safety leadership, with the ability to promote a strong safety culture through proactive behaviours and a visible commitment to WHSE values.
- Hands-on experience in systems development, including the design, implementation, and maintenance of WHSE systems to support consistent compliance across all phases of a project.
- Solid regulatory knowledge, with the capability to interpret and apply WHSE legislation and standards to uphold compliance and maintain a safe working environment.
- Proven expertise in audit and assurance, with experience planning, conducting, and reporting on WHSE audits to verify performance and demonstrate due diligence.
- Strong understanding of principal contractor oversight, with the ability to manage WHSE obligations and stakeholder relationships during construction, ensuring alignment with legal and organisational requirements.
- Proficiency in digital tools, using platforms to manage WHSE data, reporting, and compliance workflows effectively.
- The role requires the ability to travel regularly to sites in Central NSW, Queensland, and Victoria for site oversight and assurance activities.
- The candidate must be able to work in a hybrid or remote capacity within Australia, with flexibility to be based at Akaysha’s offices in Melbourne, Sydney, or Brisbane.
