Job Description
The Process Operator at AIRCO is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining reactor systems and auxiliary equipment in a safe and efficient manner to support the company's carbon conversion technology and production goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate, monitor, start up, and shut down reactor systems across lab, pilot, and production scales.
- Operate tertiary equipment and hydrogen compressor systems, adjusting pumps, valves, and controls.
- Monitor and interpret process data using Honeywell Experion and perform calculations as needed.
- Execute system upgrades, scaling, and research setups to support business priorities and technology development.
- Follow safety protocols for handling hazardous chemicals and contribute to achieving high production uptime.
- Troubleshoot and perform light repairs on process equipment, coordinating with third-party contractors when necessary.
- Assist with system upgrades, process improvements, and scaling up reactor technology.
- Coordinate transportation and handling of inbound and outbound hazardous chemicals.
- Maintain detailed operational logbooks and ensure compliance with safety and operational procedures.
Requirements
- High school diploma and or industry-specific training or experience required.
- Veterans and candidates with 2-year technology certificates or degrees are encouraged to apply.
- Experience operating chemical reaction systems or other pressure equipment.
- Background in operating and maintaining engineering equipment in chemical or petrochemical facilities.
- Experience working 12-hour shift rotations to support 24/7 operations.
- Strong understanding of safety protocols for handling hazardous chemicals.
- Ability to work proactively and independently with an eagerness to learn.
- Strong computer skills with the ability to learn and use specialized software.
- Must be able to obtain any necessary certifications if required.
- Experience in research and development (R&D) or process improvement (bonus point).
- Hands-on gas-to-liquids (GTL) operations experience (bonus point).
- Willingness to work any day of the week, including off-shift and rotating shifts as applicable or assigned.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs, climb stairs and ladders, and work in loud, varied environments.
- Use of PPE including hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety shoes.
