Job Description
The role involves leading AIRCO's Department of War acquisition strategies, managing program development from prototype to long-term funding, and building relationships with military stakeholders to secure sustained support for innovative carbon conversion technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead AIRCO's overall Department of War acquisition strategy for key programs.
- Manage the transition from prototype to production, including securing long-term funding mechanisms.
- Build and maintain relationships with DoW offices, PEOs, program managers, and requirements communities.
- Align technical roadmap and demonstrations with DoW requirements, budgets, and operational needs.
- Coordinate proposal development for DoW opportunities such as BAAs, RFPs, and OTAs.
- Work with Program Managers to report on program status, milestones, and risks related to DoW acquisition.
Requirements
- Ten (10) years of prior experience and a track record working in either a Department of War (DoW) organization, such as a program office, Program Executive Office (PEO), requirements or acquisition staff, or a DoW contractor directly delivering to the U.S. military.
- Direct experience taking a program through development and into a Program of Record or an equivalent long-term DoW funding line.
- Deep working knowledge of the DoW acquisition process, including how decisions are made at the Pentagon and within the Services, roles of PEOs, Program Managers (PMs), requirements and resourcing staffs, key gates, milestones, and documentation.
- Strong network across at least one Service, such as the Air Force, Army, Navy, or USMC, and familiarity with other Services is a plus.
- Experience coordinating across engineering, product, finance, and legal teams to support DoW engagements.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to brief senior military and civilian leaders.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required; an advanced degree in public policy, national security, engineering, or business is a plus.
