Key Responsibilities
Developing and running thermal models of forced air cooled systems.
Providing design feedback via plots and screenshots of thermal behavior and air flow, along with recommendations for how to improve performance.
Designing convective thermal solutions including fans, heatsinks, and vapor chambers, along with conductive thermal solutions including TIMs and TECs.
Requirements
5+ years of experience with thermal analysis and modeling of complex systems including silicon packages, PCBs, and fans.
Proficiency modeling CFD in Ansys Icepak including transient and steady state analysis.
Understanding of CFD model optimization for reducing run time (meshing strategy, feature resolution, understanding how different components affect the thermal stack, etc).
Experience debugging complex models with multiple boundary conditions including solar loading, pressure inlets/outlets, and fixed temperature cabinet walls.
Experience designing, speccing, and implementing passive and active thermal management solutions.
B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
Experience with Multiphysics analysis techniques such as thermal expansion in structural simulation, outputting model results into optical analysis (STOP), etc.
Experience designing thermal solutions for automotive components.
Deep understanding of the thermomechanical properties and failure modes of glass, laminated composite structures, ceramics, polymers, metals, and adhesives.
