Job Description

The Communications Manager will lead the development and execution of multi-channel marketing and communication strategies to promote a 5-year program supporting social enterprises in the African green economy, focusing on audience engagement, recruitment, storytelling, and impact amplification across East and West Africa.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead strategy, planning, and execution of communications and marketing campaigns to increase visibility, recruitment, and participant engagement for the program in East and West Africa.
  • Develop and implement multi-channel campaigns across digital platforms, including email, social media, website, and partnerships.
  • Coordinate with global and regional teams to create resonant messaging and ensure local communications are accessible and inclusive.
  • Manage content development, storytelling, and impact amplification efforts to showcase green economy innovators and track participant journeys.
  • Oversee the production of digital experiences, impact stories, reports, and promotional content to support program goals.
  • Plan and execute in-person events and convenings to disseminate insights and promote program achievements.
  • Manage relationships with regional creative partners and vendors, including scope of work, contracts, timelines, and budgets.
  • Monitor campaign performance through data analytics, A/B testing, and performance tracking to optimize audience engagement.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years professional experience in communications, marketing, or related fields.
  • Experience working in African markets, ideally leading or supporting program recruitment efforts in a nonprofit, education, or impact-driven context.
  • Experience and/or demonstrated passion for work in climate, youth livelihoods, or gender equity.
  • Experience in writing strategy and messaging across a full spectrum of communication channels and formats, including digital channels, events, reports, blogs, landing pages, and media engagement.
  • Ability to translate complex ideas into compelling concepts.
  • Ability to work through ambiguity and deliver results.
  • Ability to partner with colleagues at all levels of the organization.
  • Creative and strategic thinker.
  • Self-reflective and aligned with Acumen values.
  • Permanent work authorization for either Kenya or Nigeria.
