Job Description

The Chief of Staff to the CEO at Acumen is a senior strategic advisor and execution partner responsible for supporting the CEO's decision-making, managing cross-organizational initiatives, and representing the CEO externally to advance the organization's mission of addressing poverty and climate issues through innovative philanthropy and investment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a strategic advisor and execution partner to the CEO, translating vision into actionable priorities.
  • Support executive decision-making by synthesizing complex information and surface trade-offs.
  • Coordinate the CEO's external engagements, including high-level convenings and stakeholder interactions.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the Office of the CEO, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Drive high-priority, cross-organizational initiatives, including institutional strategy shifts and major partnerships.
  • Partner with the CEO on board governance, including meeting coordination, trustee relationships, and board processes.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 15 years of relevant professional experience, ideally spanning strategy, operations, investing, philanthropy, or executive support.
  • Demonstrated experience working directly with C-suite or founder-level leaders in complex, mission-driven organizations.
  • Exceptional strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize across finance, impact, operations, and narrative.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with financial literacy and comfort with investment and philanthropic models.
  • Strong organizational judgment, discretion, and emotional intelligence.
  • Proven ability to manage ambiguity, competing priorities, and high-stakes situations.
  • Comfort operating globally across cultures and time zones.
  • Deep alignment with Acumen's mission and values.
  • Permanent work authorization in the U.S.

Compensation/salary range: 150,000 to 200,000 USD plus a performance-based bonus
Work schedule: Hybrid model with three days in the office per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday)
