Job Description
The Director of Construction at Nexamp will lead the deployment operations for clean energy projects in the Midwest, overseeing a geographically dispersed team to ensure timely, safe, and cost-effective project delivery while collaborating with various departments to align construction efforts with organizational goals.
Responsibilities
- •Plan and execute all construction operations within the geographic region.
- •Build, coach, and retain a high-performing construction team.
- •Develop a plan to ensure success based on key performance indicators and annual goals.
- •Manage relationships with key contractors to mitigate risk across the portfolio.
- •Provide construction expertise during the project development process.
- •Collaborate with business development, engineering, and procurement to maintain project schedules.
- •Analyze key construction cost drivers for budget and ROM preparation.
- •Participate in project engineering reviews for value engineering.
- •Coach and mentor team members in contract administration and construction management.
- •Engage in new market development and establish subcontractor bases.
- •Enforce company and regulatory safety policies and procedures.
Requirements
- •10 years of construction management experience, preferably in the solar industry, with deep knowledge of civil, electrical and utility construction.
- •5 years of managing people, preferably in a remote environment.
- •4-year college degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or similar field required or equivalent work experience.
- •Knowledge of OSHA Safety standards; OSHA 10 is a minimum requirement.
- •Valid and current Driver's license.
- •Willingness to travel at least 50% if required.
- •Experience managing budgets and schedules with a track record of success.
- •Experience in contractor vetting and the project bid process.
- •Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
- •Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Project and various other construction management tools.
- •Maintains professional licenses in trade i.e. PMP, CSL, NABCEP PV, etc.
