Job Description
The Associate or Sr. Associate, Development position at Avantus involves supporting utility-scale solar project development from conception to construction, coordinating multiple projects, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to achieve project milestones on time and within budget.
Responsibilities
- •Support creation and execution of development strategy to achieve project milestones.
- •Coordinate project budgets, objectives, schedules, and deliverables for assigned projects.
- •Manage development activities including site acquisition, regulatory approvals, and environmental permitting.
- •Assist with financial models, internal tracking systems, and reports for internal and external audiences.
- •Support land use and environmental permitting applications and preliminary engineering.
- •Coordinate real estate title curative process and support negotiations.
- •Support interconnection process from application through signed agreement.
- •Coordinate preliminary project valuation modeling with the project finance team.
- •Identify and report risks to project success and establish mitigation plans.
- •Organize project meetings, communicate project statuses, and update project schedules.
- •Review and manage project contracts to ensure compliance.
- •Support the creation and improvement of development and project management tools and processes.
Requirements
- •Four-year bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline.
- •2 years experience required in renewable energy development.
- •Strong market experience in WECC, CAISO, and/or the Southwestern US.
- •Knowledge of utility-scale solar development and energy storage markets.
- •Knowledge of interconnection, permitting, real estate, state federal regulation, utility procurement goals, politics, law and other issues that impact development of renewable energy projects in energy markets.
- •Solid understanding of economic drivers within our business.
- •Highly proficient in MS Excel (advanced proficiency required), Project, Word, and PowerPoint, as well as Google Earth.
- •Independent self-starter who can meet deadlines and deliver quality products with minimal oversight.
- •Detail-oriented with a strong sense of personal responsibility and ownership of work product.
- •Excellent organizational and communications skills.
