Job Description
The Sr. Associate or Manager, Development Strategy at Avantus will work closely with the Chief Development Officer to enhance the development program for utility-scale solar and battery energy storage projects, involving strategic planning, financial analysis, and project management.
Responsibilities
- •Aid CDO with creation and management of greenfield development strategy and execution
- •Manage research, collaboration, and writing reports or presentations on complex topics
- •Prepare financial analysis to support project and portfolio decisions
- •Participate in budget preparation and administration, monitoring expenditures
- •Create and manage annual KPIs and Business Plan targets
- •Perform and manage complex planning projects, research, and analysis
- •Evaluate project progress, viability, regulatory impact, and financial returns
- •Refine prospecting tool for early-stage projects
- •Collaborate to optimize projects and assumptions for better financial returns
- •Manage market and competitive analyses
- •Track project progress and stage gate process
- •Enhance effectiveness and transparency of Development team processes
- •Participate in critical development decisions impacting projects and business
- •Perform quantitative and qualitative analyses for decision making
- •Prepare for Risk Committee and Investment Committee approvals
- •Facilitate teams on priority strategies and issues with the CDO
- •Assist with strategic development initiatives or special projects
- •Organize and execute company projects outside regular duties
Requirements
- •Minimum of 5 years experience in the solar and battery energy storage industry, with knowledge of project development, transmission, financial modeling, regulatory affairs, and power market dynamics.
- •Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- •Strong analytical skills to interpret research data for reports and apply mathematic techniques in practical situations.
- •Ability to manage multiple, high-priority assignments.
- •Ability to provide effective supervision and staff management.
- •Ability to manage projects effectively and meet firm deadlines.
- •Strong interpersonal skills to develop good working relationships with staff, officials and stakeholders and to resolve complaints.
- •Reading comprehension to understand technical and legal materials.
- •Ability to manage and conduct in-person and virtual public participation activities, meetings and hearings.
