Job Description
Samsara is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager II to lead their web development team, responsible for driving innovation and overseeing the development of web experiences used by thousands of customers globally. The role involves collaborating with Product and Design teams to enhance product features, ensuring high-quality delivery, and fostering a high-performing engineering team.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the engineering strategy for Samsara's products.
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of high-performing engineers.
- Collaborate with Product, UX/UI Design, and AI teams to develop features and optimize user experiences.
- Guide the team in architecting scalable and maintainable web solutions.
- Ensure features meet reliability, performance, and security standards.
- Oversee the development lifecycle using Agile methodologies.
- Champion new technologies and processes to enhance web development capabilities.
- Hire and develop an inclusive, engaged, and high-performing team.
Requirements
- 8 years of experience in software engineering, with at least 4 years leading engineering teams.
- 5 years of relevant technical experience working with a team to develop software in a production environment.
- A track record of building and leading high-performing software teams.
- A customer-focused mindset and strong product sense.
- Willingness to dive deep and solve challenging technical problems.
- Experience with best practices around testing, monitoring, and SLAs to ensure high product quality in large-scale distributed web services.
- Interest in continually improving team processes, backed by a strong experience on efficient, self-directed teams.
- Proven ability to build and scale diverse engineering teams, and a track record of delivering successful, large-scale web applications in a fast-paced, agile environment.
- Technical mastery in Go, Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, C, C++, or other similar languages.
- Excellent interpersonal and cross-functional collaboration skills, with ability to drive decisions across teams.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
