Job Description
The Staff Accessibility Designer at Celonis will lead the development of accessibility-first components within the Design System, advocating for inclusive user experiences across the organization. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement accessible designs, mentor others on accessibility practices, and drive strategic initiatives to enhance usability for diverse user groups.
Responsibilities
- •Lead cross-functional efforts to embed accessibility into product and system strategies.
- •Serve as a strategic problem solver and accessibility advocate, mentoring teams.
- •Design and prototype accessible enterprise-level UI components and complex interaction patterns.
- •Partner with engineering teams to implement accessible designs that meet WCAG 2.2 standards.
- •Collaborate with UX researchers to shape an inclusive research strategy.
- •Own and evolve the accessibility roadmap, setting organization-wide standards and guidelines.
- •Act as a senior advisor and liaison between design and engineering for accessibility.
- •Advocate for accessibility at an executive level, influencing policies and product roadmaps.
Requirements
- •Degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, Accessibility Design, or a related field or equivalent experience.
- •8 years of experience as a UX UI Designer or Accessibility Specialist, with a strong focus on accessibility and inclusive design.
- •Proven track record of creating and scaling accessible design systems at an organizational level, with deep expertise in interaction design, usability, and technical implementation.
- •Experience mentoring teams and advocating for accessibility at multiple levels of an organization.
- •Expert knowledge of WCAG guidelines, ARIA standards, assistive technologies, and advanced accessibility testing methodologies.
- •Deep expertise in designing accessible interaction patterns, usability testing for diverse user groups, and driving accessibility innovation.
- •Proficiency with Figma and accessibility-first design tools, as well as experience guiding engineering implementation of accessible UI components.
- •Strong ability to drive organizational change and lead strategic initiatives in accessibility.
- •Proven ability to navigate ambiguity, influence stakeholders, and drive cross-team alignment in a fast-paced environment.
- •Exceptional communication and leadership skills, with the ability to present accessibility concepts to diverse audiences, including executive stakeholders.
- •A robust portfolio showcasing accessibility-first designs, strategic impact, and user advocacy, with examples of accessibility challenges solved at scale.
