Job Description
The role involves creating and maintaining user assistance documentation for GIS software products, collaborating with subject matter experts and product teams to ensure effective communication of methodologies and best practices. The technical writer will produce various types of content, including tutorials and help materials, while managing documentation throughout the software development cycle.
Responsibilities
- •Produce and maintain documentation of conceptual topics and step-by-step workflows
- •Support a variety of user assistance materials, including help, tutorials, blog articles, and videos
- •Manage documentation throughout the development cycle to meet software release requirements
- •Collaborate with the UA team to ensure content consistency with Esri style
- •Provide functionality feedback and testing support to the product development team
- •Create and maintain a network with delivery services, product management, and marketing teams
- •Work with software engineers to design, build, test, release, and support products
Requirements
- •2 years of professional experience in a similar position supporting similar responsibilities.
- •An understanding of documentation workflows that use HTML, XML DITA, or Markdown.
- •Experience producing web-based documentation using a content management system (CMS) that involves versioning and reuse of content.
- •Ability to learn and use software as a customer would to produce the UA materials based on the experience.
- •Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey complex topics concisely, clearly, and effectively.
- •Effective time management and organizational skills to manage priorities and tasks as needed in a fast-paced work environment.
- •Experience with ArcGIS software or other geospatial technology.
- •Bachelor's degree in GIS, English, technical writing, or a related field.
