Job Description
The Senior Electrical Engineer will lead the design and delivery of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects, focusing on electrical and control systems, while collaborating with the engineering team to ensure successful integration with renewable energy projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the electrical, mechanical and control system design and delivery of multi-megawatt-scale energy storage systems.
- Develop concept layouts, Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), and cable schedules for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
- Produce technical specifications for Balance of Plant (BoP) contractors.
- Manage BoP contractor deliverables and conduct design reviews.
- Attend Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) as required.
- Liaise with AEMO, network service providers, and contractors on electrical systems.
- Lead Failure Mode Analysis workshops and engineering optimization activities.
- Support the development of Asset Management plans and maintenance practices.
- Promote and ensure workplace health and safety compliance.
Requirements
- BS or MS in Electrical, Electronic or Power Systems Engineering
- 8 years experience in a generation, renewables, transmission or distribution electrical engineering role
- Extensive technical knowledge of engineering systems, calculations, application of engineering methods and materials
- Experience and demonstrated knowledge of primary and secondary electrical system design for renewable generators and HV substations
- Understanding of SCADA and communications systems in a substation environment
- Experience working on utility-scale energy storage systems, renewable energy projects or transmission system design and delivery
- Familiarity with the National Electricity Rules and Generator Performance Standards
- Awareness of Australian engineering codes of practices, standards, and guidelines
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must be an Australian citizen, hold permanent residency status or have existing AU working rights
