Job Description

The Crating Lead at Zeeco is responsible for guiding the crating team in fabricating and assembling wooden crates for large or odd-shaped products, ensuring proper packaging, safety, and adherence to specifications, while also mentoring team members and maintaining a collaborative work environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fabricate wooden crates or boxes using woodworking tools and pack large or odd-shaped products.
  • Read blueprints and specifications to determine container size, materials, supports, and braces.
  • Lay out dimensions on materials and cut to size using saws.
  • Assemble crate components with nails, staples, screws, bolts, and glue.
  • Place products into crates manually or with hoists, and secure heavy items to the container or skid.
  • Wrap, pad, and band products with packing materials and metal bands.
  • Build crates around large or irregular items and nail covers on crates.
  • Attach identification labels or stencils with shipping information.
  • Repair broken crates and ensure crates meet shipping requirements.
  • Move crates and supplies within the workspace using industrial trucks or equipment.

Requirements

  • Must be able to read tape measure
  • Experience with electrical saws such as Panel saw, Jigsaw, and Miter saw
  • Experience with pneumatic nail and staple guns
  • Forklift experience
  • Overhead crane experience
  • Able to lift over 50 pounds
  • Good teamwork skills
  • At least 1 year of experience in a leadership supervisor role
  • Must be able to go up and down stairs
  • Must be able to communicate effectively
  • Must be able to operate a computer, telephone, and other office equipment
  • Must not present a risk of injury to self or others while engaged in company duties
  • Must be able to work overtime as required
