Job Description

A Field Service Engineer responsible for on-site commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and support of combustion and fired equipment in the oil, gas, and petrochemical industries across Europe and the Middle East, ensuring customer satisfaction and safety compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct on-site commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and installation supervision of combustion and fired equipment.
  • Prepare risk assessments, site visit reports, and maintain timesheets for clients.
  • Start up and maintain various combustion systems including flare systems, burners, oxidizers, and pollution control equipment.
  • Identify opportunities for additional aftermarket spares and site support.
  • Supervise on-site turnaround outages and deliver training to end-user personnel.
  • Adhere to health and safety policies to promote a safe working environment.

Requirements

  • Strong technical background with knowledge of mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and PLC control systems.
  • Self-Motivation and ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and task completion.
  • Prepared for extensive travel, potentially over 200 days per year, for periods of 1-2 weeks at a time.
  • Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and offshore environments, with a commitment to safety standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret P&ID diagrams, electrical schematics, and mechanical drawings.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities, with good computer skills.
  • Previous experience in combustion within the oil, gas, or petrochemical industries is advantageous.
  • Time served working away from home is desirable.
  • Flexibility to travel for prolonged periods of time up to 6 weeks.
  • Willingness to undertake on-site commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, fault analysis, and installation supervision of combustion and environmental control systems.
  • Ability to prepare Risk Assessment Method Statements (RAMS), site visit reports, and maintain timesheets for submission to clients.
  • Experience in starting up and maintaining combustion products and systems, including flare systems, flare gas recovery, boiler burners, process burners, thermal oxidizers, vapour recovery systems, and associated pollution and optical control equipment.
  • Supervisory skills to oversee on-site turnaround outages contracts and deliver training to end-user personnel.
  • Adherence to company and customer health and safety policies, promoting a safe working environment at all times.
