The Design Drafter at Zeeco Connecticut is responsible for developing complex 3D mechanical designs, creating detailed fabrication drawings, mentoring junior drafters, and collaborating with engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure high-quality, accurate, and manufacturable design packages.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and lead complex 3D mechanical designs and assemblies.
Create, review, and check detailed fabrication drawings and models.
Perform tolerance analysis and design verification for manufacturability and functionality.
Coordinate drafting activities across multiple projects to ensure schedule and standards compliance.
Review and approve junior drafters' drawing packages and provide technical mentorship.
Collaborate with engineering and project teams to resolve design issues and incorporate changes.
Support shop and field personnel with design clarifications and fabrication assistance.
Requirements
Associate's Degree in Drafting, Design Technology, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum of 10 years of drafting design experience in a mechanical or industrial environment.
Experience in the Boiler or Burner industry is required.
Proficiency with Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk Vault is required.
Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, fabrication methods, and industry standards.
Proven ability to check and approve drawings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company standards.
Experience with preparing and checking detailed drawings, including assemblies, subassemblies, layouts, and component details.
Ability to perform advanced tolerance analysis, fit-up verification, and design checks to ensure functionality and ease of fabrication.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PDF markup tools such as Foxit and Bluebeam.
Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional and international teams.
Up to 20 travel may be required for project and shop support.
