Job Description

The Design Drafter at Zeeco Connecticut is responsible for developing complex 3D mechanical designs, creating detailed fabrication drawings, mentoring junior drafters, and collaborating with engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure high-quality, accurate, and manufacturable design packages.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead complex 3D mechanical designs and fabrication drawings using Autodesk Inventor.
  • Review and interpret mechanical specifications and project requirements to optimize equipment design for performance, manufacturability, and cost.
  • Check and approve detailed drawings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with standards.
  • Mentor junior drafters and provide technical guidance on drafting activities.
  • Collaborate with engineering and project teams to resolve design issues and incorporate changes.
  • Coordinate drafting activities across multiple projects to ensure schedule and standard compliance.
  • Support shop and field personnel with design clarification, fabrication support, and site visits.

Requirements

  • Associate s Degree in Drafting, Design Technology, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 10 years of drafting design experience in a mechanical or industrial environment.
  • Experience in the Boiler or Burner industry is required.
  • Proficiency with Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk Vault required.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, fabrication methods, and industry standards.
  • Proven ability to check and approve drawings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company standards.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PDF markup tools such as Foxit and Bluebeam.
  • Up to 20 travel may be required for project and shop support.
