Job Description
The position involves fitting and welding carbon steel and stainless steel assemblies according to established procedures, maintaining welding equipment, and ensuring safety and quality standards in a team-oriented environment within the petrochemical industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Fit-up and weld carbon steel and stainless steel assemblies according to WPS and work instructions
- Maintain welding equipment, tools, and supplies in safe working order
- Operate various welding processes (GMAW, FCAW, SMAW, GTAW, saw) and pass required tests
- Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and joint configurations
- Ensure weld quality meets code standards and post weld testing requirements
- Maintain safety and HSE compliance, including proper PPE usage
- Perform setup, layout, and measurement tasks using various equipment
- Work effectively in a team environment with minimal supervision
- Handle physical tasks such as lifting, rigging, and operating heavy equipment
- Perform mathematical calculations related to job tasks, including trigonometry and geometry
Requirements
- Specialized welding training and or 8 years of related welding experience with a demonstrated skill proficiency at an advanced level, or an equivalent combination of training, experience, and skill proficiency.
- Must be skilled in at least 3 of the following welding processes: GMAW, FCAW, SMAW, GTAW, and saw.
- Must pass a 3g plate test in MIG flux core welding.
- Must pass a 6g all TIG welding test with a 1 2 schedule 160 pipe.
- Must consistently demonstrate code quality in welding work.
- Must be proficient in the following codes: API, B313, UW51, UW52, B1.1, STS, etc.
- Must possess a mechanical aptitude, and be able to use various measuring equipment.
- Must have demonstrated experience with setup, layout, blueprint reading, weld symbols, and joint configuration.
- Must be familiar with mismatch tolerances.
- Must be a skilled fitter with verifiable experience.
- Must pass a written fitter test.
- Must be able to read and understand blueprints and engineering specifications.
- Must be able to perform mathematical calculations related to job requirements including trigonometry and geometry.
- Must be able to perform duties with little or no supervision.
