Job Description
The Senior Geothermal Reservoir Engineer is responsible for designing, executing, and interpreting well tests, building and calibrating reservoir models, and providing forecasts and operational recommendations to optimize geothermal field development and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, oversee, and interpret well tests and surveillance programs
- Build, calibrate, and maintain reservoir models to match field data
- Perform sensitivity and uncertainty analysis on reservoir models
- Generate production and injectivity forecasts under various scenarios
- Evaluate reservoir management strategies and operational options
- Maintain high-quality datasets and develop automation tools for analysis
- Communicate findings and recommendations to cross-disciplinary teams
Requirements
- B.S. or higher in Reservoir Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Geoscience, or a related field.
- At least 4 years of reservoir engineering experience in geothermal and/or analogous subsurface industries such as oil and gas, hydrogeology, or CCS, with demonstrated ownership of well tests and reservoir modeling work.
- Proven technical skills in well testing and surveillance design and interpretation, including PTA build-up, falloff step-rate, interference connectivity tests, injectivity productivity, and tracer-based diagnostics, with strong data quality control.
- Experience in developing and updating geothermal reservoir models using numerical simulation, calibrating models against field data, and integrating geologic constraints into conceptual and numerical models.
- Ability to perform history matching by systematically adjusting parameters, understanding non-uniqueness, and communicating uncertainty and model limitations.
- Ability to generate production and injectivity forecasts under multiple operational and development scenarios, including uncertainty ranges.
- Capability to evaluate reservoir management strategies such as injection allocation, well timing, pump strategies, and remediation options, and translate model outputs into decision-ready recommendations highlighting impacts, operational tradeoffs, and key risks.
- Proficiency in maintaining high-quality datasets, ensuring data completeness and provenance across test data, production and injection data, and well logs.
- Experience in building lightweight analytics using Python and SQL to automate recurring analyses and create monitoring dashboards.
- Excellent cross-functional communication skills, including writing clear technical memos, presenting tradeoffs, and collaborating effectively with operations, drilling, and facilities teams.
