Job Description
The Drilling Superintendent will oversee day-to-day drilling operations for geothermal projects, ensuring compliance with regulations and optimizing resources. This role involves managing drilling crews, troubleshooting operational issues, and collaborating with R&D teams to implement innovative drilling programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct management and supervision of the wellsite and all phases of drilling operations.
- Ensure drilling operations are compliant with all applicable government regulations, company client policies, and industry standards.
- Develop schedules, allocate resources, and manage costs to optimize company goals.
- Foster continuous operational improvement and growth of the drilling program.
- Provide technical guidance and support across multiple departments.
- Recruit, hire, train, and manage drilling crews.
- Provide leadership, accountability, mentorship, and motivation to field personnel.
- Anticipate, troubleshoot, and resolve operational, equipment, and maintenance issues.
- Coordinate and ensure preventative maintenance is performed on equipment.
- Build long-term relationships with shareholders, suppliers, and contractors.
Requirements
- 10 years of drilling experience.
- 3 years of supervisor management experience.
- Ability to travel and perform fieldwork as required.
- Extensive and wide-ranging understanding of various drilling techniques, equipment, procedures, and safety protocols.
- Ability to prioritize, multitask, and execute in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Demonstrated experience implementing drilling programs in new or unproven areas with limited support services and limited offset well data.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
- Valid driver's license without any major infractions in the last three years.
- A commitment to the safety of yourself, others, and the environment.
- Must possess a high degree of accuracy, integrity, and attention to detail.
- Must be self-motivated and work with minimum direct supervision.
- Comfortable working outdoors continuously in the elements to a high operational tempo.
- Ability to perform physical labor and other strenuous physical tasks to include, but not limited to, periodic bending and kneeling and lifting, pushing, and pulling 50 lbs.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English at a level which will permit the employee to accurately understand and communicate information to perform the job duties safely and efficiently.
- Must possess good mechanical and technical aptitude, with competency operating and maintaining vehicles and equipment.
- Comfortable using a GPS and navigating in remote settings.
- Able to use computers, specifically Google products e.g., Google Docs, Sheets and Directories.
- Must exercise good housekeeping and work in a neat, orderly manner.
Benefits & Perks
Compensation/salary range: 120,000 - 160,000 base salary eligible for incentive bonus up to 25% of base salary
Work schedule: Full Time
Work environment perks: Based in Salt Lake City, Utah, Travel 25 - 75%
