Job Description

A Water Treatment Operator responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of drinking water treatment and distribution systems, ensuring compliance, safety, and efficient plant performance in a team environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in the daily operations and maintenance of drinking water treatment and distribution systems.
  • Monitor and control water treatment processes to ensure compliance and optimal performance.
  • Respond to emergency situations and work in inclement weather as needed.
  • Follow safety, operating, and emergency response procedures during work activities.
  • Assist in maintaining system compliance through process monitoring and maintenance activities.

Requirements

  • Possession of a valid drinking water treatment operator certification at the appropriate level as required by state or federal regulations.
  • Experience participating in the day-to-day operations and maintenance activities of drinking water treatment and distribution systems.
  • Ability to perform daily process monitoring and comprehensive maintenance to maintain 100% compliance with water quality standards.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including inclement weather, and to respond to emergency situations as needed.
  • Ability to work in a safe and professional manner by following established safety, operating, and emergency response procedures.
  • Participation in an on-call rotation for system coverage outside normal work hours, including weekends, with a weekly stipend of $200.
  • Schedule availability to work 5 days per week, 8 hours per day, with shifts including weekends and on-call duties.
  • Physical ability to perform tasks related to operating and maintaining water treatment and distribution systems, including working outdoors and responding to emergencies.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical or vocational training related to water treatment is preferred.
