Job Description

The Wastewater Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining a wastewater treatment plant that processes industrial wastewater, performing process monitoring, mechanical repairs, and responding to emergencies to ensure efficient and compliant plant operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain the wastewater treatment plant and related facilities
  • Monitor and adjust treatment processes to ensure compliance and efficiency
  • Perform basic mechanical repairs on pumps, compressors, valves, and other equipment
  • Participate in daily operations and maintenance activities as directed by the plant manager
  • Respond to emergency situations and work in inclement weather as needed
  • Work on an on-call rotation for plant coverage outside normal hours, including weekends and holidays

Requirements

  • Possession of a valid wastewater operator certification or license as required by the state of Missouri or the relevant regulatory authority.
  • Experience in operating and maintaining a wastewater treatment plant, including process monitoring and adjustments, preferably in an industrial wastewater setting such as a bacon processor.
  • Ability to perform basic mechanical repairs on pumps, compressors, valves, and other equipment related to wastewater treatment operations.
  • Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation for plant coverage outside normal work hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to respond to emergency situations and work in inclement weather conditions as needed.
  • Availability to work a schedule of 8 days on and 6 days off, with shifts typically consisting of 10-hour days on weekdays and 12-hour days on weekends and holidays, from Tuesday through the following Tuesday.
  • Physical ability to work outdoors and in various weather conditions as required by the job duties.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certifications related to wastewater treatment are preferred but not explicitly required.
