The Operator Trainee will participate in the daily operations and maintenance of water and wastewater treatment plants and distribution systems, gaining hands-on experience and working towards industry certifications in a collaborative and inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities
Participate in the daily operations and maintenance of water and wastewater treatment plants and distribution systems.
Work scheduled day shifts and participate in on-call rotations for alarm call outs and shift coverage.
Assist in ensuring treatment plant operations comply with safety standards and regulations.
Learn and apply principles, procedures, and equipment used in water and wastewater treatment and distribution.
Maintain accurate water quality data and maintenance records using computer applications.
Requirements
High School or trade school diploma is required.
Entry level candidates will be considered.
A valid State of Florida Class C Drinking Water and or a valid State of Florida Class C Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators license is preferred.
Working knowledge of the principles, procedures, methods, equipment, materials, and tools employed in the operation and maintenance of the Water and Wastewater Treatment, Collection and Distribution systems.
Knowledge of, or the ability to learn, the hazards and safety precautions involved in water and wastewater treatment work.
Knowledge of computer applications for water quality sample data and maintenance record keeping.
Ability to read, interpret, and apply instructions, drawings, and specifications for work assigned.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, other personnel, and the general public.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds on a regular basis.
Successful candidates will be required to complete a background check, pre-placement physical, and drug screen before employment.
