Job Description
The Operator Trainee will participate in the daily operations and maintenance of water and wastewater treatment plants and systems, gaining hands-on experience and working towards industry certifications, with opportunities for career growth and development in a supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in the daily operations and maintenance of water and wastewater treatment plants and collection/distribution systems.
- Assist in monitoring and controlling treatment processes to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Learn and apply procedures, methods, and equipment used in water and wastewater treatment operations.
Requirements
- High School or trade school diploma is required.
- Entry level candidates will be considered.
- A valid State of Florida Class C Drinking Water and or a valid State of Florida Class C Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators license is preferred.
- Working knowledge of the principles, procedures, methods, equipment, materials, and tools employed in the operation and maintenance of the Water and Wastewater Treatment, Collection and Distribution systems.
- Knowledge of, or the ability to learn, the hazards and safety precautions involved in water and wastewater treatment work.
- Knowledge of computer applications for water quality sample data and maintenance record keeping.
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply instructions, drawings, and specifications for work assigned.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, other personnel, and the general public.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds on a regular basis.
- Successful candidates will be required to complete a background check, pre-placement physical, and drug screen before employment.
