Job Description
The Operator Trainee at Woodard Curran participates in the daily operations and maintenance of an industrial wastewater treatment facility, gaining hands-on experience in monitoring processes, performing water quality testing, and maintaining equipment, with opportunities for professional growth in the wastewater treatment industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor wastewater treatment plant processes and equipment manually and via SCADA automation, making adjustments as necessary.
- Perform water quality sampling, testing, and analysis to ensure compliance with regulations.
- Operate, maintain, control, and perform routine repairs on plant equipment, including preventive maintenance.
- Utilize software for maintenance work orders and maintain all necessary records.
- Respond to emergency or unpredicted situations as part of on-call rotation.
Requirements
- Must have the ability to monitor wastewater treatment plant processes and equipment both manually and via SCADA automation, making adjustments as necessary to control their operation.
- Must have experience or ability to perform water quality sampling, testing, and analysis in a laboratory environment to determine compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Must be able to operate, maintain, control, and perform routine repair of plant equipment, including preventive maintenance duties.
- Must be proficient in utilizing software programs for maintenance work orders and maintaining all necessary records.
- Must be available to work a schedule from Tuesday to Tuesday, 7:00 pm to 5:00 am, working one week on and one week off.
- Must participate in an on-call rotation on weekends, holidays, and outside normal workday hours.
- Must be able to respond to emergency or unpredicted situations as required.
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent, or be a recent high school or college graduate, or someone seeking a mid-career shift into the wastewater treatment industry.
- Must be self-motivated, take pride in their work, and have an interest in pursuing a career in the wastewater treatment industry.
