The Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining industrial wastewater treatment facilities in compliance with environmental regulations, performing daily operational tasks, troubleshooting equipment issues, and supporting plant maintenance and safety efforts.
Key Responsibilities
Operate the wastewater treatment plant in compliance with environmental regulations
Perform daily rounds to monitor plant operations
Assist with equipment repairs and troubleshoot operational issues
Maintain plant safety and environmental compliance standards
Conduct groundskeeping activities such as pressure washing, cleaning, and shoveling
Requirements
Operate the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) in compliance with applicable local, state, and Federal environmental requirements.
Perform daily rounds of the wastewater treatment plant to monitor operational conditions.
Assist with equipment repairs as needed to ensure proper functioning of the treatment plant.
Troubleshoot and correct operational problems that arise during plant operation.
Maintain safety and compliance standards in all operational activities.
Perform grounds keeping activities including pressure washing, light painting, sweeping, cleaning, and shoveling as part of the job responsibilities.
Work on rotating shifts, which may include first shift, second shift, weekends, and legal holidays, with the opportunity for overtime pay.
Possess a high school diploma or equivalent educational qualification.
Have a minimum of 1 year of experience operating a wastewater treatment plant or in a related industrial wastewater treatment environment.
Be capable of performing physical tasks such as shoveling, sweeping, and pressure washing, which may require physical strength and stamina.
Be willing to work in an industrial environment with exposure to water, chemicals, and other treatment plant conditions.
