Job Description
A Senior Software Engineer at Voltus is responsible for developing and maintaining data-intensive web applications and data services that support real-time grid monitoring, financial forecasting, and payment processes, primarily using AWS, Python, React, and related technologies. The role involves managing complex data pipelines and systems to streamline demand response operations in the clean energy sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain data products, web applications, and data services for real-time performance and grid monitoring.
- Develop and optimize data processing pipelines, warehouses, and APIs to streamline data management and centralization.
- Work with technologies such as AWS, Python, React, Hashistack, Docker, Clickhouse, Deltalake, Postgres, and Kafka.
- Apply systems thinking and domain-driven design principles to manage system complexity.
- Contribute to both frontend and backend development efforts, with a focus on data and backend engineering.
Requirements
- Deep experience in data and backend engineering, with the ability to work on data-intensive web applications for real-time performance and grid monitoring, as well as services that manage financial forecasting and payment.
- Proficiency in programming with Python and experience working with AWS cloud services.
- Experience with frontend development using React is encouraged, but not mandatory; candidates with frontend experience are also encouraged to apply.
- Experience working with data storage and processing technologies such as Clickhouse, Deltalake, Postgres, and Kafka.
- Ability to design and manage data processing pipelines, warehouses, and APIs in a product-oriented approach.
- Knowledge of systems thinking and techniques like Domain Driven Design to manage system complexity.
- Authorization to work from a home location in the US or Canada, as Voltus does not sponsor visas or transfers for new hires.
- Ability to work primarily from one's home country, with travel to other countries only with prior approval as per the Global Remote Travel Policy.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a holistic approach to system design and development.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a remote, empathetic team.
