Job Description
Job Title: Global Service Technology Engineer – Bus Bar and Switchgear
Key Responsibilities
We are seeking a Global Service Technology Engineer – Bus Bar and Switch Gear to join our Service Technology team. In this role, you will serve as the primary Service Technology representative across the New Product Development and Introduction (NPDI) process, ensuring that new Vertiv products are designed, validated, and launched with full digital service readiness. You will collaborate with engineering, product management, digital services, and field service teams throughout the product lifecycle to define monitoring requirements, validate data models, and confirm that new products integrate seamlessly into Vertiv's Digital Services platforms prior to release.
This position is a central coordination role within the Service Technology team. The Engineer will manage NPDI gate activities for multiple product families simultaneously, maintaining a consistent standard for serviceability, telemetry, and digital integration across Vertiv's power and thermal portfolio.
This role provides an opportunity to shape how Vertiv products are designed for serviceability and remote monitoring from the ground up.
Serve as the Service Technology representative across active New Product Development and Introduction (NPDI) programs, participating in design reviews, gate reviews, and launch readiness assessments for new products.
Define and document service technology requirements at each NPDI gate, including telemetry requirements, SNMP/MODBUS/API data model specifications, alarm definitions, and monitoring platform integration criteria.
Validate SNMP/MODBUS data models, firmware data exposure, and alarm behavior against defined requirements prior to product release.
Partner with engineering, product management, and digital services teams to ensure that serviceability, digital monitoring readiness, and remote diagnostics capabilities are incorporated into new product designs.
Lead the onboarding of new products into Digital Services platforms, coordinating data integration, dashboard development, alarm validation, and knowledge article creation.
Develop and maintain a consistent NPDI playbook for Service Technology, including standard templates, checklists, and gate deliverables.
Track NPDI program status across all active product families and provide regular updates to the Global Service Technology Manager.
Coordinate pilot deployments, beta testing, and early field validation activities for new products, capturing and resolving feedback prior to general availability.
Identify and drive resolution of serviceability gaps, design deficiencies, or digital integration issues discovered during development and validation activities.
Collaborate with firmware, controls, software, and digital services teams to ensure consistency and completeness of data exposure across the Vertiv product portfolio.
Participate in customer engagements, escalations, and strategic launch activities for new products as required.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience required.
Minimum of five years of experience in product development, service engineering, or technical program coordination in a critical power or thermal management environment.
Broad technical familiarity with Vertiv product categories, including UPS, thermal management, switchgear, PDU, or related critical infrastructure equipment.
Experience participating in structured product development or introduction processes (e.g., Stage-Gate, NPDI, or equivalent).
Experience working with digital service or monitoring platforms to validate telemetry, alarms, and data models for newly released products.
Familiarity with telemetry and communication standards such as SNMP, MODBUS, or API-based data models.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and programs across cross-functional teams.
Experience collaborating with engineering, product management, and field service teams to resolve technical issues during product development.
Experience with cloud-based platforms for data analysis is highly desirable.
Experience in data center or mission-critical environments preferred.
Experience collaborating with global or cross-functional teams preferred.
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with attention to detail.
