Job Description
A research scientist role focused on developing machine learning models and tools to understand social well-being and the future of work, collaborating across behavioral science, AI, and human-computer interaction to foster human happiness and social dynamics within workplaces.
Responsibilities
- •Conduct machine learning research on social well-being and the future of work, including model architecting, simulations, and handling complex datasets.
- •Use real-world, human-level data to model prefactuals and counterfactuals through techniques like multi-agent-based modeling, reinforcement learning, causal inference ML, RDM AI, and Graph Neural Networks.
- •Collaborate across behavioral science, human-computer interaction, and machine learning domains to design and pilot technologies that analyze social dynamics within and around workplaces.
- •Define and help build the trajectory of a new project space focused on social well-being and human-centered AI research.
Requirements
- •Expertise in and enthusiasm for machine learning research, including model architecting, simulations, and working with complex datasets.
- •Interest or experience in using real-world, human-level data to model prefactuals and counterfactuals, specifically in areas such as multi-agent-based modeling, reinforcement learning, causal inference ML, RDM AI, and Graph Neural Networks.
- •Strong interest in collaborating across multiple domains including behavioral sciences, machine learning research, and human-computer interaction.
- •Ability to work with teams across Toyota to design and pilot technologies that help to better understand social dynamics within and around workplaces.
- •Self-starting attitude and interest in making contributions within a multidisciplinary team project.

- •Salary range between 228,800 and 343,200 per year (California-based roles)
