Job Description
A senior machine learning researcher responsible for developing advanced end-to-end models for automated driving systems, focusing on perception, planning, and prediction using large-scale sensor data, and expanding large behavior models and diffusion policies within Toyota's autonomous vehicle initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop innovative machine learning models for automated driving systems.
- Deploy models on vehicle platforms to perform perception, planning, and prediction tasks.
- Lead independent research efforts and collaborate with team members and external partners.
- Advance end-to-end learning approaches using large-scale sensor data to improve driving performance.
- Expand and integrate Large Behavior Models and Diffusion Policy research into autonomous driving applications.
- Design scalable architectures and incorporate visual-language-action modalities into models.
- Refine models for closed-loop driving in real-world and simulated environments.
- Explore data quality filtering, transfer learning, and edge deployment optimization for autonomous systems.
Requirements
- Strong track record of leading independent research efforts in machine learning, preferably including mentoring and collaborating with less experienced students and researchers.
- Experience in designing and developing innovative machine learning models for autonomy stacks and deploying them on vehicle platforms to solve daily driving tasks and handle long-tail scenarios.
- Expertise in end-to-end learning approaches for automated driving, utilizing large-scale sensor data directly for perception, planning, and prediction to overcome traditional information bottlenecks.
- Experience in expanding Large Behavior Model (LBM) robotics efforts and Diffusion Policy (DP) research into the driving domain, including designing scalable architectures and integrating visual-language-action modalities.
- Ability to refine models for closed-loop driving on public roads and in simulation.
- Experience in data quality filtering, transfer learning from diverse data sources, and edge deployment optimization.
- Proficiency in developing scalable architectures for machine learning models in autonomous driving applications.
- Educational background in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related disciplines (implied, as the role involves advanced research and model development).
- Ability to contribute to Toyota’s global AI efforts and collaborate across multiple Toyota entities.
- Submission of a CV that includes a link to Google Scholar and a full list of publications.
