A research internship focused on developing large-scale machine learning models for dexterous robot manipulation, involving creating prototypes, running experiments with robots, and contributing to advancements in AI-driven robotic behaviors in unstructured environments.
Key Responsibilities
Create working code prototypes for robot manipulation tasks
Conduct experiments with simulated and real robots
Develop and deploy policies for mobile manipulators and humanoid robots
Interact with team members to refine and improve robot behaviors
Participate in publishing research findings to peer-reviewed venues
Requirements
Currently enrolled in or recent graduate of a relevant undergraduate or graduate program in fields such as robotics, computer science, electrical engineering, or related disciplines.
Experience in creating working code prototypes and interacting frequently with team members.
Ability to run experiments with both simulated and real physical robots.
Comfort working with both existing large static datasets and a growing, dynamic corpus of robot data.
Knowledge of vision-language-action (VLA) models for mobile manipulation.
Experience with dynamic whole-body manipulation on humanoid robots.
Understanding of cross-embodiment transfer techniques.
Familiarity with universal UMI-style or ego-centric data collection methods.
Experience with haptic tactile-inclusive VLA models.
Ability to integrate VLA policy methods with model-based robotics methods.
Experience with large-scale synthetic data generation and sim-to-real transfer techniques.
Knowledge of post-training methods for continual learning.
Strong programming skills to develop and deploy algorithms and prototypes.
Excellent communication skills for interacting with team members and participating in publishing research work.
Availability for a 12-week paid internship during summer 2026, in-office role in Cambridge, MA.
