Job Description
A research scientist position focused on developing and evaluating large behavior models (LBMs) for robotics, aiming to enable reliable, safe, and adaptive deployment of robots in human environments through advanced machine learning techniques and uncertainty management.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct cutting-edge research to enable reliable deployment of large behavior models (LBMs) in human environments.
- Develop methods for objective assessment of policy performance through rigorous evaluation.
- Create techniques for detecting and handling unknown situations to ensure safety and reliability.
- Advance active continual learning capabilities for LBMs to adapt to new information.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate insights from controls, uncertainty-aware ML, statistics, and robotics.
Requirements
- Strong background in embodied machine learning and a make it happen mentality.
- Expertise in Policy Evaluation, Failure Detection and Mitigation, and Active Learning in the context of Large Behavior Models (LBMs) for robotic manipulation.
- Experience with Multi-Modal Foundation Models, Generative Modeling, Imitation Learning, Reinforcement Learning, Planning Control, Statistics, Uncertainty Estimation, Out-of-Distribution Detection, Safety-Aware Robust Machine Learning, Interactive Learning, and Online Continual Learning.
- Ability to conduct research independently and work well as part of a larger research team at the cutting edge of state-of-the-art robotics and machine learning.
- Preferred experience with robots, particularly in the manipulation domain.
