Job Description
The Energy Materials Research Intern at Toyota Research Institute will assist in applying machine learning to the scientific design of materials for electrochemical devices, bridging the gap between simulation and experimentation. This 12-week summer internship is aimed at graduate students nearing the completion of their PhD and involves collaboration with software engineers and researchers to develop prototype tools for materials research.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply state-of-the-art machine learning model architectures to scientific design problems for electrochemical devices.
- Bridge the gap between simulation and experiment in materials research.
- Incorporate scientific theory or intuition into new machine learning models for actionable input to experimentalists.
- Collaborate with software engineers and researchers to translate work into prototype tools.
- Present findings at internal meetings and potentially co-author papers or patents.
Requirements
- Graduate students nearing the completion of their PhD.
- Experience in applying state-of-the-art machine learning model architectures to problems related to the scientific design of materials for electrochemical devices.
- Ability to bridge the gap between simulation and experiment.
- Experience in incorporating scientific theory or intuition into new machine learning models that provide actionable input to experimentalists.
