Job Description
The Discipline Lead Group Manager oversees and mentors a team of engineers and technicians in roadway and utility design, manages project execution and client relations, and contributes to business growth and service development within a collaborative, employee-owned engineering firm.
Key Responsibilities
- Coach, mentor, and develop engineering and technician teams
- Assess team capabilities and assemble project teams
- Review work for compliance with standards and QA/QC processes
- Provide technical guidance and insight throughout project lifecycle
- Lead proposals, client engagement, and stakeholder relations
- Identify and develop roadway and utility design capabilities
- Advance services through collaboration with other group managers
- Oversee project deliverables and progress against schedules
- Assume project manager responsibilities for strategic projects
- Participate in market and sector development strategies
Requirements
- Reside within a regular commuting distance of the MSP Bloomington, MN location.
- Experience in coaching, mentoring, and developing a talented group of engineers and technicians.
- Ability to outline development plans for team members that further their professional growth and align with business needs to advance service capabilities.
- Experience in coaching on design practices and standards, providing guidance on addressing design challenges, and assisting in discipline coordination efforts.
- Experience in managing registered professionals and a Team Lead Assistant Group Manager who manages emerging unregistered engineers, designers, and technicians.
- Ability to assess team capabilities and capacity against project scope and overall deliverables to assemble project teams, delegate applicable design tasks, review work in accordance with applicable standards and QA/QC processes, and oversee deliverable progress in relation to submittal schedules.
- Experience in identifying, advocating for, developing, and expanding roadway design and utility design coordination capabilities for a team.
- Ability to contribute to client engagement and development plans, cultivate and maintain relations with stakeholders, track prospective opportunities, lead proposals, and deliver qualifications presentations.
- Experience in partnering with various representatives to outline and implement market and sector development strategies to generate or enhance awareness and recognition of service offerings and capabilities.
- Proficiency as a technical expert providing technical guidance and insight to project teams and project managers throughout the full lifecycle of a project.
- Ability to assume project manager responsibilities for strategic and high-profile projects as necessary.
- Experience in assisting with proposal development for project pursuits by providing input on team capabilities and capacities in relation to project scope and delivery commitments.
- Participation in qualifications presentations and project interviews.
- Professional residing within a regular commuting distance of the MSP Bloomington, MN location.
