Job Description
An R&D Scientist at Swift Solar will develop and optimize perovskite thin film materials and processes for high-efficiency, stable, and scalable solar cells, contributing to the advancement of next-generation solar technology and its transition to high-volume manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize processes, materials, and metrology techniques for thin film layers in perovskite tandem solar cells.
- Identify shortcomings in existing device stacks and develop strategies to improve performance, stability, and scalability.
- Perform systematic experiments to optimize scalable deposition materials and processes.
- Develop and maintain advanced metrology techniques to quantify material properties.
- Create unit process specifications for thin film materials to ensure high reproducibility for manufacturing.
- Collaborate with suppliers to source, qualify, and design new materials for enhanced device performance.
- Translate research findings into scalable processes suitable for high-volume manufacturing.
Requirements
- Hold a Ph.D. in chemistry, materials science, physics, or a related field with a focus on perovskite materials research.
- Have a proven track record of independently identifying and solving complex scientific research questions aimed at improving semiconductor thin films and device performance.
- Bring 2 years of expert knowledge in thin-film deposition and characterization aiming at improved device understanding.
- Be comfortable with ambiguity, and excited to independently drive open-ended R&D projects that might go beyond your immediate area of expertise.
- Be proactive, hard-working, and motivated to make an impact on climate change.

Salary range of $110,000 to $160,000 per year
