The Equipment Technician role involves maintaining and troubleshooting laboratory deposition tools and process equipment during night shifts to ensure smooth operations and readiness for the morning team, supporting the development of advanced solar technology.
Key Responsibilities
Perform hands-on maintenance and service support for deposition tools and process equipment during night shifts
Diagnose and address equipment issues such as vacuum leaks, pump concerns, and mechanical faults
Support restart and troubleshooting of vacuum systems and tools
Review work orders and equipment status, escalating issues as needed
Assist with reviewing thin-film metrology results and analyzing tool logs under guidance
Collaborate with Process Technicians to maintain safe and efficient operations
Perform routine maintenance on facility equipment including compressors, gloveboxes, and chilled water systems
Support spare-part tracking and manage consumables inventory
Identify opportunities for operational improvements and escalate safety concerns
Requirements
Have 3 to 5 years of equipment maintenance experience in vacuum deposition, semiconductor manufacturing, or a related field.
Be comfortable troubleshooting and repairing both mechanical and electrical systems, including high and low voltage systems.
Have a working understanding of vacuum chamber pumping, including mechanical, turbo, and cryogenic pumps, and be familiar with vacuum gauges, valves, and related components.
Be able to support process monitoring and assist engineers in bringing deposition equipment back into specification.
Have general EHS safety knowledge and be able to identify and help escalate safety concerns related to equipment and materials.
Be organized, reliable, and a clear communicator who can effectively hand off information between shifts.
