The Non-Certified Electrician will provide electrical expertise to lead the installation of residential solar systems and batteries to ensure conformance to existing national and local building codes.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the installation of electrical systems that interconnect our solar array to the grid power of our customer’s residential property
Ensure work performed is of good workmanship and compliant with current NEC and local codes
Safely plan and complete solar battery installations and MPUs as assigned and depending on state electrical certification requirements
Troubleshoot system problems and resolve electrical issues
Work with branch team and home owners to fulfill or assist in any necessary system upgrades/repairs to support our solar equipment
Work with local inspectors to satisfy local requirements and expectations as assigned
Demonstrate knowledge of OSHA standards related to photovoltaic installations and enforce safety practices and standards
Additional duties assigned as needed
5% travel required
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent
Must possess 75% of the hours required to sit for state specific electrical certification exams
Electrical installation and repair experience required. Experience with electrical work involving wiring up to 600 VDC and 480 VAC
Working knowledge and experience replacing residential electrical services and distribution panels preferred
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS (include where appropriate)
Certified electrical trainee preferred or required depending on state requirements
Electrical/PV Installation Knowledge:Working knowledge of current NEC codes. Ability to interpret single line drawings and PV systems from roof to meter. Demonstrates knowledge of electrical principles as it pertains to solar interconnection/tie-in and code and how PV systems operate. Understands interconnection activities. Understands basic construction principles.
Safety: Adheres to company safety policies and procedures including ability to identify and report safety hazards, and the ability to encourage others to work safely
Customer Service: Ability to establish rapport, build relationships and loyalty with external and internal customers and coworkers, and remains tactful when communicating
