Job Description
The Program Director for the Methane Removal Program will lead efforts to advance research and policy in the emerging field of methane removal, managing a team and engaging with stakeholders to develop strategic roadmaps and funding initiatives aimed at addressing climate change.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute strategic roadmaps for methane removal field growth
- Manage the internal team
- Grow the community for policy-relevant scientific and social understanding of methane removal
- Direct funding to support science and policy advancement
- Design, develop, and implement a scientific grants program
- Develop strategic content and materials to educate diverse audiences
- Engage with policymakers on public research funding opportunities
- Collaborate on legal and governance-related workstreams
- Organize research workshops and community-building efforts
Requirements
- A deep motivation for climate action and the ability to engage with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders and rights holders.
- Experience in developing and executing strategic roadmaps to grow and steward a field.
- Experience managing an internal team.
- Experience in advancing policy-relevant scientific and social understanding of scalable, effective, and safe methane removal approaches.
- Experience directing funding to support the advancement of science and policy.
- Interdisciplinary knowledge that includes science, engineering, talent development, society, economics, and policy.
- Experience in design, development, and implementation of a scientific grants program to accelerate research.
- Experience in developing strategic content and materials to educate diverse audiences.
- Experience engaging with policymakers on public research funding opportunities.
- Experience collaborating with cross-organizational colleagues on legal- and governance-related workstreams.
- Experience organizing research workshops, conference sessions, and community-building efforts.
