Job Description
The SpaceX supply chain department is a critical player in our operations.
Key Responsibilities
Create sourcing strategies for assigned categories to reduce risk and meet targets for the purchasing department
Develop and maintain key internal stakeholder relationships to create strategic sourcing models that optimize the value of products and services that support business unit requirements to maintain continuous cost reduction programs for controllable expenditures
Present confidently to company executives and key decision makers on high-stakes negotiations and launch critical response events
Communicate, manage, and drive compliance for sourcing strategies
Identify and execute cost reduction projects, including planning, coordinating with stakeholders, estimating completion, and project updates
Perform advanced quantitative and business process analyses to identify financial impacts of decisions, cost improvement, and performance for assigned categories
Collaborate with stakeholders to define service level agreements (SLAs) and key performance indicators (KPIs) for suppliers and measure the appropriate criteria, such as: delivery of business results, cost reduction, quality, and timeliness of delivery
Conduct research, perform benchmarking, and gather market analysis for assigned categories
Create contract documents in collaboration with the legal department
Manage contracts to ensure the performance of the supplier to contract obligations
Understand interrelationships between contracts and terms while applying creativity and sound business reasoning to interpret the application of contracts to business needs
Maximize value and cost savings benefits while lowering risk through strategic negotiations
Identify and drive year-over-year cost optimization through reducing usage and eliminating waste within our operations
Establish preferred suppliers for assigned categories
Create and implement management programs to develop, continuously improve, manage the performance of, and monitor KPIs of the supply base
Place purchase orders and resolve blocked invoices related to assigned categories
Develop and lead efforts to reduce the number of transactions for assigned categories
Requirements
Advanced degree and 3+ years of experience working in one or more of the following; or bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of experience working in one or more of the following; or 9+ years of experience working in one or more of the following:
1+ years of experience working with propellants, cryogenics, oil & gas bulk commodities, carriers, and/or large capital equipment procurement
Strategic sourcing/capital equipment procurement experience, ideally in energy, industrial gas, or heavy manufacturing environments, with a track record of managing multi-million-dollar CAPEX purchases.
Direct experience sourcing cryogenic systems and related capital equipment (storage tanks, vacuum-jacketed piping, cryogenic pumps, vaporizers, valves, and transfer systems for LOX, LN2, LCH4, or LH2).
Proven background procuring power generation and electrical capital equipment, including generators, turbines, switchgear, transformers, UPS systems, and related balance-of-plant infrastructure for large facilities.
Demonstrated success leading end-to-end sourcing for complex capital projects: RFP/RFQ development, total cost of ownership analysis, competitive bidding, contract negotiation, supplier qualification, and long-term vendor performance management
Experience sourcing air separation units (ASUs) to support liquid oxygen and nitrogen production
Experience sourcing power generation equipment (gas turbines)
Ability to read technical drawings and work with engineering BOMs
Strong technical knowledge and skills in current technologies and applications (e.g., MS Office Suite, SQL, Power BI, etc.)
Experience with technical procurement or manufacturing
Excellent communication skills with experience presenting to executive leadership

Effective written, verbal, and presentation communication skills

Must be able to travel - up to 25% of work week travel may be required, including international travel
Must be able to work extended hours and/or weekends as needed to meet major milestones
This position is based in Cape Canaveral, FL and requires being onsite - remote work not considered
