Job Description

Solid Power is seeking a Product Development Intern to join our talented team of engineers and scientists working to revolutionize the battery industry through the development of next‐generation, all solid‐state rechargeable batteries.

Key Responsibilities

Work closely with and under the direction of scientists and engineers to run experiments at the lab and production scales.
Support electrode fabrication by mixing and hand casting electrode slurries.
Support slurry development by collecting and analyzing rheological data and making recommendations for future iterations.
Communicate results and roadblocks to the broader team/audience.
Always follow all facility and laboratory safety rules and regulations.

Requirements

Enrolled at least in a bachelor’s program in a STEM field.
Must have experience in an academic or industrial lab environment.
Comfort with safe handling of hazardous materials and equipment is required.
Experience in material characterization techniques (XRD, TGA, DSC, rheometry, etc.) is a plus.
Foundation in statistical design (D.O.E.) with relevant software experience a plus.
Knowledge of Li-ion battery cell operation, performance, and failure modes preferred.
Experience in testing and validation of Lithium ion/Lithium battery rechargeable cells preferred.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite.
Experience with Python or Minitab is a plus.
Excellent communication skills.
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk.
Ability to work in gloveboxes and dry rooms.
Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as necessary including, but not limited to eye protection, hair net, gloves, face mask, coveralls, full-face respirator or PAPR.
Hourly Compensation: $25/hour
Schedule: 15-20 hours per week during fall semester and up to 30 hours per week during the summer.
