Job Description
The Real Estate Counsel is responsible for negotiating and drafting lease agreements, easements, and related legal documents to support the development of renewable energy projects, while providing legal advice across various departments to ensure compliance and risk management.
Key Responsibilities
- Negotiate and draft lease agreements, SNDAs, easements, and memos of lease with REITs and property owners
- Provide legal advice to the Business Development team and leadership on real estate transactions
- Support project development in the renewable energy sector through legal review and compliance
- Balance legal compliance, risk management, and business objectives in real estate transactions
- Collaborate with multiple departments involved in development, construction, financing, operation, and ownership of solar assets
Requirements
- The candidate must be an agile lawyer capable of quarterbacking lease negotiations with many of the world’s largest REITs and other commercial and industrial property owners.
- The candidate must have experience supporting project development in the renewable energy sector.
- The candidate must have experience drafting and negotiating solar leases, SNDAs (Subordination, Non-Disturbance, and Attornment agreements), easements, and memos of lease.
- The candidate must be able to provide critical legal advice to the Business Development team and leadership.
- The candidate must be a proactive legal professional who thrives in a collaborative environment involving multiple departments such as development, construction, financing, operation, and ownership of commercial and community solar assets.
- The candidate must have the ability to effectively balance legal compliance, risk management, and company business objectives.
