Job Description

The Senior Equipment Engineer at Sila is responsible for supporting, troubleshooting, and optimizing manufacturing equipment, primarily in high-vacuum and high-temperature environments, to ensure reliable operations and continuous improvement in a battery materials production setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and resolve daily production issues related to mechanical equipment such as vacuum furnaces, pumps, blowers, and material handling systems.
  • Create and revise CAD models, fabrication drawings, and mechanical fixture designs for operational needs and equipment modifications.
  • Support equipment reliability by refining maintenance procedures, health check strategies, and lubrication plans.
  • Review mechanical design documents and drawings to ensure compliance with standards and specifications.
  • Establish and maintain technical relationships with external vendors and contractors for equipment fabrication and repair.
  • Utilize operational data to develop condition-based monitoring procedures to prevent downtime.
  • Participate in feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses for equipment upgrades and reliability improvements.
  • Document solutions and provide technical support to operations and maintenance teams regarding mechanical systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • 4 years of Equipment Engineering experience in Chemical Process Industries, Semiconductor, Automotive or similar high volume manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated experience with industrial processes and equipment, such as high-vacuum systems, pumps, motors, blowers, and valves
  • Familiarity with programming and troubleshooting PLC based controls systems TwinCAT and SCADA Ignition
  • Proficiency in using CAD software SolidWorks and AutoCAD for mechanical design, drafting, and drawing review
  • Working knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and regulations for mechanical equipment in an industrial setting
  • Strong analytical, technical troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to work independently on assignments and effectively as a member of a cross-functional team
  • Pass a respirator fit test
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment including a lab coat, gloves, safety glasses, and steel toe safety shoes
  • Ability to move items up to 50 lbs with the assistance of lift equipment and carts
  • Ability to move long distances such as from building to building and be stationary for extended periods of time
  • Ability to reach low shelves or items on the floor
  • Ability to enter spaces narrower than 3 feet and climb stairs or over containment walls
  • Experience in troubleshooting and supporting mechanical systems related to vacuum furnaces, pumps, blowers, and material handling equipment
  • Experience in designing and revising CAD models, fabrication drawings, and mechanical fixture designs to support operational needs and minor equipment modifications
  • Experience working with maintenance teams to refine equipment health check strategies, maintenance procedures, and lubrication plans
  • Experience reviewing mechanical design documents, drawings, and specifications for compliance with applicable codes and standards
  • Experience establishing and maintaining technical relationships with external fabrication and repair services for specialized equipment and components
  • Experience utilizing operational data to propose and implement condition-based monitoring procedures
  • Experience participating in feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses for equipment upgrades or reliability improvement projects

Benefits & Perks

Compensation/salary range: $128,000 to $162,000
Work schedule: Onsite
