Job Description
The role involves leading the design, development, and lifecycle management of pouch-type Li-ion battery cells for electric vehicles and energy storage systems, ensuring successful transition from prototype to mass production while collaborating across R&D, testing, and manufacturing teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the technical design and lifecycle management of pouch-type Li-ion battery cells for various applications.
- Manage the entire product lifecycle from concept and prototype development to mass production.
- Design and validate NCM-based pouch cells for commercial platforms such as scooters, e-bikes, and EVs.
- Drive the NPI process ensuring robust design practices and quality assurance methodologies are followed.
- Collaborate with R&D, testing, and manufacturing teams to define product specifications and ensure alignment with safety and performance standards.
Requirements
- M.S. in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related engineering field
- A B.S. in Inorganic Nonmetallic Materials Engineering or equivalent is required
- Deep, hands-on expertise in pouch-type Li-ion battery cell design and NCM-based cell validation
- Proven experience managing the full battery product lifecycle, including NPI (New Product Introduction) from prototype to mass production
- Direct experience implementing quality methodologies such as DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) and DVP R (Design Verification Plan and Report) within a manufacturing or R&D environment
- Strong foundational knowledge of Battery Chemistry and its application to high-performance cell design for EV and ESS UAM
- Previous experience at EV battery manufacturers or high-volume cell production companies
- Experience designing cells for various commercial platforms beyond EV, such as stationary storage and micromobility
- Experience leading cross-functional design efforts and serving as a key interface between R&D and manufacturing
