Job Description
The Associate Chemist at SES AI will support laboratory operations by performing routine tasks and conducting synthetic chemistry experiments, focusing on mobile energy storage. This role requires adherence to safety regulations and the ability to analyze and document testing data.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine laboratory tasks and carry out chemistry synthesis under supervision.
- Adhere to safety and Good Laboratory Practice regulations and company policies.
- Execute Standard Operating Procedures and maintain detailed, organized records.
- Effectively use standard laboratory equipment such as balances, meters, and pumps.
- Execute glassware-cleaning procedures and work with moisture-sensitive solvents and compounds.
- Understand and execute appropriate disposal of liquid and solid wastes.
- Work closely with chemistry supervisor to perform and optimize established synthetic methods.
- Prepare electrolytes and maintain safety and organization in the lab area.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or master's degree in chemistry or affiliated majors.
- Knowledge of chemistry principles and methods with the ability to interpret results and communicate effectively.
- Good problem-solving skills and the ability to think out of the box.
- Experience with synthetic chemistry research is strongly preferred.
- Strong communication and quantitative skills.
- Ability to execute Standard Operating Procedures and keep detailed, organized records.
- Ability to effectively use balances, meters, pumps, stir plates, funnels, pipets, burets, heating plates, fume hoods, and other standard laboratory equipment.
- Ability to execute various glassware-cleaning procedures and work with moisture-sensitive solvents, organic compounds, acids, and bases.
- Understanding and execution of appropriate disposal of liquid and solid wastes.
- Ability to perform duties with a respirator on an as-needed basis.
- Ability to perform a variety of routine laboratory tasks and carry out chemistry synthesis under supervision.
