Job Description
The Senior Electrical Engineer at Second Order Effects will lead the design and implementation of complex electrical systems, mentor early-career engineers, and collaborate with clients across various industries to deliver innovative solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the technical direction of project teams sized from 3 to 10 engineers.
- Mentor early-career electrical engineers, focusing on skill development and feedback.
- Collaborate with customers to deliver solutions across various industries.
- Lead technical discussions and align different disciplines toward shared solutions.
- Support Business Development by participating in early-stage calls and reviewing estimates.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Math, or related field.
- 5 years of experience designing custom electronics.
- Experience organizing and leading project teams through hardware design projects from inception to completion.
- Exceptional technical ability demonstrated by a track record of developing and delivering high-performance electronic products or systems.
- Experience acting as a technical mentor and teacher to early-career engineers.
- Ability to lead technical discussions and align different disciplines (mechanical, software, etc.) toward shared solutions.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify the type of problem (technical, interpersonal, organizational) and take initiative to execute the right solution.
- Demonstrated strength in clearly communicating complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Expertise with at least one ECAD tool, such as Altium Designer, Mentor, Cadence, etc.
- Applicant must be willing to work 40 hours a week on-site in El Segundo, California, USA.
- Applicant must be eligible to work on ITAR projects.
- To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b a 3, or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
