Job Description
A Sales Engineer at Samsara is responsible for supporting the technical sales process by demonstrating IoT solutions, developing technical proposals, and building relationships with customers across various industries to drive digital transformation and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop a thorough understanding of Samsara's IoT hardware, sensors, and system integrations to present technical solutions to customers.
- Engage with customers to explain how Samsara's products address industry-specific problems and support their operations.
- Create and deliver technical work products such as demonstrations, value assessments, and proof of concept implementations to facilitate sales.
- Write scripts and document open API solutions to solve real-world customer problems and enable deeper account integration.
- Act as a technical liaison between product and sales teams, translating feedback and supporting beta program enrollment.
- Collaborate with sales teams to plan, prepare, and execute sales transactions in rapid sales cycles.
- Build relationships with third-party partners, including software providers, system integrators, and installation partners.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working with customers in a pre-sales, customer success, or customer product support capacity.
- Ability to influence stakeholders based on technical sales acumen and a solid understanding of business processes and change management.
- Ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Previous experience managing hardware and/or software product evaluations.
- Basic understanding of electronics and electrical systems.
- Experience with technical consulting, cloud software, cloud-connected hardware, computer networking, business systems integration, automation, and control systems.
- Fluent in English.
- Great time management and organizational skills to work on multiple accounts and projects at different stages.
- Work experience in task automation scripting and transferring data between systems using Bash, Python, JavaScript, or equivalent language.
- Work experience building solutions leveraging open APIs.
- Understanding of vehicle diagnostic systems, including Controller Area Networks (CAN bus) and Power Take Off (PTO) applications.
- Hobbyist interest in working with electronic systems such as car audio installation, classic car restoration, home automation, Raspberry Pi, Arduino, etc.
- A proven track record of success selling complex technical solutions through strategic sales cycles.
- Knowledge of MEDDIC, BANT, and/or Value Selling sales concepts.
- Experience working with product teams internally and feature request processes.
