Job Description
The Accounting Manager at Samsara will oversee general ledger accounting operations and close processes for the US business, ensuring accurate financial records and effective internal controls while managing a team of accountants in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage various close responsibilities including cash, prepaids, accruals, property and equipment, and intercompany transactions.
- Oversee and review the preparation of financial reporting packages for senior executives.
- Support the development and implementation of accounting policies in conformity with GAAP.
- Perform and review balance sheet account reconciliations and coach staff on best practices.
- Work cross-functionally to ensure accruals and estimates are reasonable and complete.
- Collaborate with Finance Transformations to drive efficiencies in systems through RPA.
- Ensure proper coding of journals across the company's cost center structures.
- Perform fluctuation reviews on balance sheet and P&L accounts.
- Review control design and create operating mechanisms for effective internal controls.
- Identify and escalate errors or anomalies in the books and records.
- Maintain familiarity with accounting for fluctuations in foreign currencies.
- Promote a coaching culture and invest time in team development.
- Stay current on trends in the accounting field and encourage professional development.
- Execute ad-hoc projects and initiatives as directed by the Assistant Controller.
- Champion and embed Samsara's cultural principles.
Requirements
- 5 years of progressive experience in accounting.
- 2 years of leadership experience.
- Experience working with auditors.
- US CPA required.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or related field.
- Strong working knowledge of Excel.
- Experience managing a team.
