Job Description

A Field Sales Engineer at Samsara is responsible for promoting and implementing IoT solutions to modernize essential industries, providing technical expertise, supporting hardware installation, and building customer relationships to drive digital transformation and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop expertise in Samsara products and articulate their value to prospects.
  • Conduct technical demonstrations, value assessments, and proof of concept implementations.
  • Guide hardware installation, build deployment plans, and explain best practices to customers.
  • Create sample scripts using open APIs to solve real-world customer problems and document them.
  • Act as a technical liaison between product and sales teams, translating feedback and enrolling customers in beta programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's of Science degree from a 4-year accredited university.
  • 5 years of experience working with customers in a pre-sales, customer success, or customer product support capacity.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders based on your technical sales acumen and a solid understanding of business processes and change management.
  • Ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Previous experience managing hardware and or software product evaluations.
  • Basic understanding of electronics and electrical systems.
  • Experience with technical consulting, cloud software, cloud-connected hardware, computer networking, business systems integration, automation, and control systems.
  • 8 years of enterprise experience working with customers in a pre-sales environment.
  • Understanding of vehicle diagnostic systems, including Controller Area Networks (CAN bus) and Power Take Off (PTO) applications.
  • Skilled in identifying customer value and delivering solutions that focus on what is most important to the customer.
  • Work experience in task automation scripting and transferring data between systems using Bash, Python, JavaScript, or equivalent language.
  • Work experience building solutions leveraging open APIs.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
  • Proximity to an international airport is preferred.
