Job Description
The Electrical Engineer co-op at Samsara will work on designing and testing hardware products for IoT applications, collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop innovative solutions that enhance the safety, efficiency, and sustainability of physical operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the design and development of hardware products, including component selection, schematics, and layout.
- Prototype and assemble evaluation kits and quick-turn prototypes to evaluate concepts and support firmware development.
- Create validation plans and characterize electrical systems for functionality, power, and use-cases.
- Perform root cause analysis of design inefficiencies and field failures to improve product performance and quality.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners to ensure successful product development and manufacturing.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in progress in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field, with a target graduation timeline of May-June 2026.
- Must be a second or third-time co-op or Master level co-op student; first-time co-ops are not considered.
- Ability to commit to a minimum of 6 months of full-time co-op employment.
- Prior intern or co-op experience working on high-volume hardware programs.
- Solid fundamentals in digital, analog, and mixed-signal circuits.
- Schematic and layout knowledge in Altium, Cadence, or CAD Allegro.
- Ability to navigate tradeoffs between design, manufacturability, schedule, and cost.
- Hands-on experience with test instruments such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, and spectrum analyzers.
- Knowledge of cameras, sensors, WiFi, LTE, Bluetooth, GPS, antennas, and batteries.
- Strong ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and drive independent work.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
